Angelo Papalexiou
Angelo is the Managing Director and founder of AP Taxation. Angelo graduated from Monash University with a Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting & Finance) degree and went on to become a Chartered Accountant in 2004.
Angelo has significant experience in the accounting and taxation industry and believes his responsibility to clients is one of a Trusted Advisor, not merely an accountant. Having also gained invaluable experience working at NAB as a Business Bank Manager, allows him to perform this role better than most in the industry.
Creating meaningful conversations and thinking ‘outside the box’ is the simple formula to his success.
MAX KHATRI
Max completed a bachelor’s degree in Commerce subsequently moving to Australia and completing a Masters degree in Accounting & International Finance at Deakin University.
Max specialises in preparing tax returns and financial reports for all types of businesses and individuals. His ongoing development in the field, paired with his keen interest in tax and strong head for numbers has enabled him to branch out into tax planning and advisory services. He also has a keen interest and involvement in IT and cloud-based business services within the practice.
Max also enjoys managing his own active share options portfolio and prides himself in looking after his clients “all year round” and going beyond just taxation.
SHARMILA DOOKIA
Sharmila joined AP Taxation in 2022 and brings over 15 years of experience in professional practice having previously worked in a mid -tier accounting firm.
She completed her ACCA membership in 1999, and a Bachelor of Accounting (Business & Finance) degree in 2005 from RMIT. She is a fully qualified Chartered Accountant having completed her CA in 2008. Sharmila works closely with her clients to gain an understanding of their business and assists them in meeting their financial goals and ensuring they meet their compliance requirements.
In her spare time, Sharmila enjoys going for walks, gardening and spending time with her family and friends.
MARK VANDERGERT
Mark completed his Bachelor of Business (Accountancy) with distinction from RMIT and has been a CPA for the last 20 years.
Prior to joining AP Taxation, Mark has gained vast experience from both reputable mid-tier firms and smaller boutique practices that has given him a well-rounded perspective for his clients and the industries they are involved in.
As a highly accessible and responsive accountant, Mark engages closely with his clients and helps them navigate through the legislative and compliance complexities including working with family-owned businesses and appreciates the delicate and dynamic nature in which they operate. A logical thinker complemented with a lateral proactive approach, Mark explores all available options, offers timely and effective solutions, and delivers strategies to ensure his clients benefit from the best possible guidance to achieve personal/business goals and tax optimal outcomes.
Mark is very personable and thrives on satisfying the needs of clients which is a key to his success as an accountant and trusted advisor to many.
As part of giving back to his profession, Mark is passionate about working coherently with his professional networks and his peers in the field – he is currently a committee member of the CPA South East Metro Branch and has held the Chair for the CPA Dandenong Tax Discussion Group for the last 6 years.
TONY SO
Tony So is our Senior Business Services Manager that has played an integral part in growing the practice and importantly managing the Mornington office. He began working with AP Taxation in early 2016 having previously worked with Angelo at an inner-city mid-tier accounting firm. Tony is a fully qualified CPA, having completed his CPA in 2006.
Having obtained a Bachelor of Accounting and Computing degree at Monash University, Tony’s expertise lies not only in the accounting and taxation industry, but also in assisting clients with IT and software solutions.
His invaluable knowledge of the IT industry and the ever-growing cloud/IT-based accounting industry has greatly assisted Tony in providing the right accounting and IT solutions for his clients.
